Perhaps one of the most popular bands in the world today, Kings of Leon, have spoken out denying the claims that they are set to switch records labels.
The recent enormous success of latest album ‘Only By The Night’ has turned the band into one of America’s biggest musical exports. Ironically bigger everwhere apart from their homeland, the album propelled the band to the top of the charts in many countries.
It would seem however that success does come at a price. With the constant touring reportedly putting a strain on the band and the British tabloids delight in writing about the infighting between the Followill brothers whilst travelling the world, success has caused a number of problems for the band.
In addition to the suggested scraps, the increased revenues from record sales has brought royalty payment issues to the fore. Whilst giving a recent interview Caleb Followill revealed that the band write together in the same room – as they are suspicious that they wont receive their due. Hey! Whatever happened to it being all about the music though guys?
With an unstable air about the band, rumours started circulating that Kings Of Leon were set to switch labels due to the group being unhappy over the way royalty payments were structured on their current contract. Of course, the British press doing what they do best – stirring as always – reported that the band were moving from Columbia to entertainment kings Warner Brothers.
In an attempt to clear the confusion caused by such rumours, drummer Nathan Followill used Twitter to lay down the truth about exactly what is happening with him and his bandmates. "Once again there is another rumour circulating about KOL," he wrote. "We are not leaving our record label. We are happy where we are now let's get drunk." The band are now currently back in the studio working on their fifth album.
In other news regarding the band, Kings Of Leon recently launched their own label ‘Serpents And Snakes’. A new venture for the band which has just seen band, and long term friends, The Features first to be signed up.
