Liam Gallagher's BRITs Brother Snub

Last night’s BRIT Awards once again failed to pass without some kind of controversy. As Oasis triumphed in the ‘Best BRITs Album Of 30 Years’ category, singer Liam Gallagher waltzed onto stage, snubbed his brother Noel and threw both his microphone and award into the crowd! Rock’n’Roll! Its 1995 again!!

Oasis have always been known to raise a riot at the BRIT awards. Way back during the height of the Britpop era, the band’s tension with Blur burst into a war of words at one ceremony. Also on one occasion, Spice Girl Mel C once told Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher to “come and have a go if you think you’re hard enough”.

Next in the firing line was Robbie Williams. The singer, while making an acceptance speech for an award, offered to donate money to charity in order to be given the chance to fight the Oasis singer in a boxing ring.

Even though Oasis split-up last year, it seems that they can still manage to cause controversey like they never went away. Last night’s awards ceremony was no different to previous outings.

With the awards show being hosted by Peter Kay, the northern funny man did a sterling job at running the ceremony’s 30th anniversary show. Amoungst the nominees for ‘Best BRITs Album Of 30 Years’ was the classic Oasis offering ‘Whats The Story (Morning Glory).

Following the announcement of the winner, Liam Gallagher swaggered up on stage to collect the award and an aim to create more havok. Thanking his bandmates involved in the creation of the winning album, he neglected to mention his brother Noel Gallagher in his mumbled acceptance “speech”.

"Listen kids, I wanna thank bald head (Bonehead), Guigs (Paul McGuigan), Alan White and the best fucking fans in the world," Gallagher said before throwing his microphone and then the actual award into the audience before leaving the stage seemingly unmoved by the triumph.

Upon leaving the stage host Peter Kay could be heard saying “what a nob-head” before the awards took a commercial break during which BRITs officials begged fans to hand back the award.

Oasis beat off competition from some of the best selling albums of the past 30 years. Voted by Radio 2 listeners the full list of nominees were:

Coldplay - 'A Rush of Blood to the Head'
Dido - 'No Angel'
Dire Straits - 'Brothers in Arms'
Duffy - 'Rockferry'
Keane - 'Hopes & Fears'
Oasis - '(What's the Story) Morning Glory?'
Phil Collins - 'No Jacket Required'
Sade - 'Diamond Life'
The Verve - 'Urban Hymns'
Travis - 'The Man Who'
