Modest Mouse Announce Two UK Shows & Tickets

Following yesterday’s announcement that they will be performing at the Reading and Leeds festival this year, Modest Mouse will also play two shows in Newcastle and Liverpool.

Forming in 1993 in Seattle, America, Modest Mouse accrued significant mainstream success having signed to Sony’s Epic Records in 2001. Since then they have gone on to sell over three million records and have been one of the leading bands in the commercialisation of indie rock.

Elements of Modest Mouse’s early sound has been compared to or inspired by that of Pixies and numerous other alternative rock and space rock bands.

Modest Mouse are set to play a Main Stage slot at this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals, which take place over the weekend of 27th-29th August. There are already rumours and speculation that Modest Mouse former guitarist Johnny Marr could join his old band mates on stage at the event as his current band The Cribs play a few rungs above Modest Mouse on the 2010 festival bill.

Tickets for the weekend bash went on sale yesterday and are expected to sell-out, but fans shouldn’t fret too much as Modest Mouse have now announced two extra UK shows following on from their appearance at the festivals.

Modest Mouse will play the following UK dates:

August 2010

31st O2 Academy, Newcastle

September 2010

1st O2 Academy, Liverpool

Tickets are available from 9am on Friday 2nd April.
