Doves have told Scotland’s Daily Record that the band are to take an extended break. Frontman Jimi Goodwin told the paper that aside from their Best Of compilation and festival appearance this summer, the band will rest for the time being.
Goodwin said “It’s nice to just have a bit of breathing space. We just wanted to get off that whole album-tour-album-tour treadmill. None of us are ready to face going into the studio for another two years. This is wiping the slate clean, we have nothing else in the vaults now. That is it. Whatever we do from now on will be a new start.”
In a rather exciting new project, the singer plans to team up with Elbow pal Guy Garvey. Goodwin explained that he and Garvey had been “talking about it endlessly for years”, passing tracks back and forward between the two. He added “We keep trying to get out diaries together, who knows if it will ever get released. I’m just waiting to see what might happen.”
We at Stereoboard.com might actually burst at this revelation.
