Has Ronnie Wood Quit The Rolling Stones?

Fresh from their triumph on the UK album chart with the re-release of their classic album ‘Exile On Main Street’, the Rolling Stones are facing some vicious rumours that members of the band are splitting from the group.

Not only has word gone around that drummer Charlie Watts was leaving the band, it now seems at though guitarist Ronnie Wood’s place within the Stones is now in jeopardy. According the Stones’ official website, www.rollingstones.com, that certainly seems to be the case.

Visitors to the band’s official website will see that if they explore the ‘people’ section of the site, it now says that guitarist Wood’s term in the band is ‘ongoing’. However, yesterday Ronnie Wood’s details appeared to show that the guitarist was a member of the Stones from 1976 to 2010!

Now hopefully this is some kind of mistake and Ronnie is still with the multi-million selling group, but at present it remains to be seen whether it is a typo or a case of someone jumping the gun. As far as I know, Ronnie hasn’t run off with any more young European girls again anyway.

Meanwhile, Ronnie's first band The Faces are set to perform this summer with Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall – what!? – on vocals. The band are set to play Vintage At Goodwood Festival with another unusual name included in the line-up, none other than bassist Glen Matlock formerly of the Sex Pistols replacing late Faces bass player Ronnie Lane. Originals Ronnie Wood, Kenny Jones and Ian McLagan complete the line-up.
