Des Bishop is a comedian from New York who moved to Ireland in the 1990s.

It was there that he became a massive star, first coming to prominence in the 2004 documentary TV series The Des Bishop Work Experience. In 2006, he embarked on his second critically acclaimed TV series, Joy In The Hood, where he taught stand-up comedy in disadvantaged areas in four major Irish cities. his TV shows often have a focus on language and roots, and in 2008 the shows In The Name Of The Fada prompted a radical re-think of how Irish was taught in schools - winning an IFTA for Best Television Series.

He took part in a number of TV shows and series throughout his career, and has since performed at huge international festivals such as Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, the Melbourne Comedy Festival in Australia, Aspen Comedy Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe, and more.
