Kedarnath Bhattacharya, better known as Kumar Sanu, is a leading Bollywood singer from Kolkata.
Sanu started his playback career in 1984 with a song in the film Yeh Desh. In 1986, he had another in the Bangladeshi film Tin Kanya, but Sanu had his first major Bollywood song in Hero Hiralal in 1988, and a bigger success with the 1990 film Aashiqui, for which he won Best Male Playback Singer. He won the award five times consecutively for his films that followed. Kumar Sanu returned to playback singing in 2012, and since has been awarded a handful of civil honours. Anuradha Paudwal is also an Indian playback singer working in Bollywood. She was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award in 2017, and has been a recipient of the National Film Award and a four-time winner of the Filmfare Award for her works in Bollywood cinema.
