Mel Brooks is an iconic comedy writer, director, actor, producer, comedian and composer. Starting his career back in the 1960s, Brooks is known as a creator of broad film farces and comic parodies.

In the 1970s, Brooks became one of the most successful film directors - with many of his films being among the top 10 moneymakers of the year they were released. His best-known films include The Producers, The Twelve Chairs, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie, High Anxiety, History of the World Part I, Spaceballs and Robin Hood: Men in Tights. A musical adaptation of his first film, The Producers, ran on Broadway, from 2001 to 2007.

Awards-wise, Brooks has won countless awards - including Grammys, Emmys, Academy awards, Tonys, and many nominations for Golden Globes too. In 2017 he won the Academy Fellowship BAFTA.
