Newport Folk Festival is a music festival held in Newport, Rhode Island.
Having launched in 1959 as a counterpart to the Newport Jazz Festival, the event was one of the first modern music festivals in America, and remains a focal point in the expanding genre of folk music. Held annually from 1959 to 1969, in 1985 its founder decided to revive the festival, and it has been held at Fort Adams State Park ever since. Newport Folk Festival will return to Fort Adams State Park in July 2026, with the line-up featuring Hayley Williams, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Hudson Freeman, Lizzy McAlpine, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, and more TBA.
