When great British pop institution The Beautiful South split in 2007, most members of the band didn’t feel ready to hang up their microphones or instruments just yet, and went on to form The South.
Featuring former members of The Beautiful South Alison Wheeler and Gaz Birtles, they play the songs made famous by their former band, bringing back the full flavour and excitement with a nine piece live band. Dave Hemingway left in 2016, leaving Birtles to vocal duties, but the rest of the band is made up of Phil Barton (Guitars), Steve Nutter (Bass), Dave Anderson (Drums), Karl Brown (Percussion), Gareth John (Trumpet), Su Robinson (Sax), and Andy Price (Keys).
They also perform original material from their debut album, ‘Sweet Refrains’, which came out in 2012 via Zoo Records.
After a string of shows in 2018, The South will play a headline London show in March 2019. Catch them live by checking out the tour dates and concert ticket information below on Stereoboard.
