Angélique Kidjo is a Grammy Award-winning Beninese singer-songwriter and activist, noted for her diverse musical influences and creative music videos.
With thirteen albums to her name, from her debut 'Pretty' in 1981 to most recent 'SINGS with the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg' in 2015, Time Magazine has called her "Africa's premier diva". The BBC has included her in its list of the continent's 50 most iconic figures, and in 2011 The Guardian listed her as one of their Top 100 Most Inspiring Women in the World.
2018 brings us Kidjo’s newest project, an interpretation of The Talking Heads’ classic 1980 album, 'Remain in Light'. She will record her version of the album with superstar producer Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Jay Z, Drake, Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, and Taylor Swift), and reinterpret them with electrifying rhythms, African guitars, and layered backing vocals. Angélique Kidjo took this musical extravaganza to concert halls and festivals across the globe including a premier performance at Carnegie Hall, Bonnaroo as her festival debut in 2017, and now, will head to London's Royal Festival Hall in June. Following this, Kidjo has been confirmed to play Cardiff's Festival of Voice, too! Catch her live by checking out the tour dates and concert ticket information below on Stereoboard.
