Barnsley Tickets & Matches
Barnsley Football Club was founded in 1887 by Reverend Tiverton Preedy, under the name Barnsley St. Peter's. They are one of the oldest football clubs and played their first season in the Football League in 1898.
The club colours are red and white, and their home ground since 1888 has been Oakwell. Their nickname, The Tykes, comes from a Yorkshire character, hard-working and traditional. But they are often just called the Reds. Main rivals include Yorkshire clubs Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United and Leeds United. The club has picked up a number of trophies, winning the FA Cup in 1912 and more recently winning the 2016 League One play-off final at Wembley Stadium.
