Basketmouth—real name Bright Okpocha—is a comedian from Lagos, Nigeria, who also honed his skills as a drummer and rapper in various bands throughout the 1990s.
Despite being booed off his first comedy stand-up show in 1999, he started researching what would go down well at a local University, Benin, and his popularity skyrocketed. His gigs increased in size with each performance, and since then has won some of comedy's highest honours, including the National Comedy Award for Best Comedian in 2005, and Best Stand-up Comedian in 2006. Basketmouth will bring his Cancel Culture Tour to the UK in February 2024, including a show at London's Indigo at The O2.
