Blast - often stylised as BL'AST! - is an American hardcore punk outfit hailing from Santa Cruz, California. First formed in in 1982 as MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction), the band were one of the most popular punk outfits in the 80s/90s California scene, alongside names like Fu Manchu.
Releasing three studio albums in their original run - ‘The Power of Expression’, ‘It's In My Blood’, ‘Take The Manic Ride’ - the band came to an eventual demise in 1991. However, in 2014, news that original Blast members singer Clifford Dinsmore and guitarist Mike Neider had recruited Queens of the Stone Age/Kyuss members bassist Nick Oliveri and drummer Joey Castillo for new shows and a new album, ‘The Expression of Power’.
