Boomtown Rats Tickets, Tour Dates & Concerts 2023/2024 ♫Last Updated: 09 Feb 2021 4:24pm
Boomtown Rats are an Irish new wave outfit hailing from Dublin. Formed in 1975, the band most famously consisted of frontman Bob Geldof, guitarists Garry Roberts and Gerry Cott, bassist Pete Briquette, keyboard-player Johnnie Fingers and drummer Simon Crowe.
Led by the world-famous Geldof, Boomtown Rats went on to have a number of hits during the glory years of punk and new wave. The band scored two #1 singles - Rat Trap and I Don’t Like Mondays - while their frontman’s charity work would later see him nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Releasing a string of six successful studio albums, including three Top 10 hits and a platinum disc in 1978’s ‘A Tonic for the Troops’, the band would tour the world performing their music, even breaking into the markets over in the US and places like Japan. Eventually splitting in 1986, the band would make a triumphant return over 25 years later, minus Johnnie Fingers and Gerry Cott, for a UK and Ireland tour alongside a new Greatest Hits album. Now in 2020, Boomtown Rats have released a new album, 'Citizens Of Boomtown', their first since 1984. Boomtown Rats have rescheduled their spring UK tour to September and October 2021 in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
