The highly anticipated soundtrack to the US hit television show 'Smash' is to be released in the UK on 21st May, and will feature stars Katharine McPhee (Karen), Megan Hilty (Ivy Lynn) and other cast members performing the original music created for the show’s narrative and for the musical-within-a-musical. The NBC series has already been renewed for a second season, and the first 15-episode series is being aired in the UK on Sky Atlantic from Saturday 21st April at 9-10pm.

It’s encouraging that mathy types Maps & Atlases can draw a decent crowd to the Garage on a Tuesday for their oddball mixture of experimentalism and naturally addictive songwriting. With excellent second album 'Beware and Be Grateful' having just dropped, it’s a great time for the UK to have Maps & Atlases on its stages and, judging by the excitable turnout here, their British fans hold the band in as special a place as the band holds them.
