Biffy Clyro To Start Work On New Album This Christmas

Scottish rock trio Biffy Clyro have announced they are to begin work on a new album this Christmas.

Biffy Clyro broke into the mainstream last year following the release of their most successful album to date ‘Only Revolutions’. Having made a huge impact on the Top Ten as well as spawning two hit singles from the release, the album outsold all of Biffy’s previous albums, establishing the Ayshire band as a major rock outfit and introducing their sound to thousands of new fans.

With a tour confirmed to kick-off later this year, Biffy Clyro will tread the boards of their biggest stage yet playing a London gig at the massive Wembley Arena. Following their autumn tour the band is to return to their native Scotland and start writing some new material. Speaking to The Daily Record, Biffy bassist James Johnston explained the band’s plan to begin recording at Christmas.

“It is something we are really excited about. We have started doing a little bit of work, but until we are truly off the road we never really think about recording. When we get some time at home over Christmas, we will start concentrating on the new songs. We are eager, we are excited but we understand you only get one chance to make a record and we don’t want to mess it up, we wont rush it then forever regret it.”

Biffy Clyro’s 2009 album ‘Only Revolutions’ is up for this year’s Mercury Music Prize and topping the band’s breakthrough album will be a difficult task for the trio. Talking about the expectations of a new album, Johnston continued.

“I think there is pressure on use because of the success of ‘Only Revolutions’. But we will truly find out when we sit down to write and record. I am hoping, because we are still up in Scotland and out of the eyes of the industry in a way, we can be ourselves and do things the way we want to do them.”

Meanwhile, Biffy Clyro released their B-side collective album, cleverly titled, ‘Lonely Revolutions’ earlier this week. The album has been released alongside the band’s latest single ‘God and Satan’.
