Oklahoma City’s outstanding alternative rock outfit The Flaming Lips have announced that they will perform legendary album ‘The Soft Bulletin’ in its entirety during a special one night only performance at London’s Alexandra Palace.
Fronted by the unique Wayne Coyne, The Flaming Lips are best known for their unusual titles and bizarre lyrics to their psychedelic rock songs.
Despite being warmly received by critics and since being listed as one of the top albums of the 1990s, their ninth studio album ‘The Soft Bulletin’ was never a huge blockbuster upon its release in May 1999. It did however pave the way for the latter-day identity of The Flaming Lips and quickly became popular amongst fans.
Playing the album in full as part of ATP’s ‘Don’t Look Back’ series, fans can expect to hear The Flaming Lips perform songs such as “Race for the Prize,” “Buggin’” and “Waitin’ for a Superman” for one night only at London’s Alexandra Palace next year on July 1st.
At what promises to be a spectacular show, The Flaming Lips will be supported by another band not to be sniffed at Dinosaur Jr., who will be playing out their 1998 album ‘Bug’ in full as well as Deerhoof who will be giving their 2004 album ‘Milk Man’ a full live airing too.
Other bands that have performed at the Don’t Look Back concerts include The Stooges, Sonic Youth, Public Enemy and Belle & Sebastian amongst others.
The Flaming Lips will play the following UK show:
