Folk band Mumford & Sons were joined onstage by The Kinks’ Ray Davies as they wrapped up their UK tour this week.
The show at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on Saturday night (October 9th) was the last in a string of UK dates in support of their 2009 album, ‘Sigh No More’. Davies joined the band onstage to perform a medley of classic Kinks tracks, featuring ‘Days’ and ‘This Time Tomorrow’.
Introducing The Kinks frontman, Marcus Mumford said: "We'd like to introduce a couple of people onstage. One of them is a newer member of the band, who used to play with The Kinks. Everyone, Ray Davies."
Mumford and Sons have toured extensively for the past year supporting their debut album. The show also featured a few new songs, including a recent fan-favourite titled ‘Nothing Is Written’. Marcus Mumford showed his appreciation to the crowd throughout, declaring: "It is our last show in the UK too for a while so it is a bit emotional. Not to get all lovey-dovey but it has been a great couple of years for us and we are very grateful."
It was revealed earlier this month that Ray Davies is working on a new album, entitled ‘See My Friends’. He has collaborated with Mumford and Sons on the record, and it is believed that the medley of ‘Days/This Time Tomorrow’ will be the track which they have contributed. Other high-profile acts on the album include Amy MacDonald, Frank Black and Paloma Faith.
