Eminem leads Grammy nominations

Eminem is the leading contender for the 2011 Grammy Awards with 10 nominations. The rapper, who released his seventh studio album, ‘Recovery’ earlier this year, dominated the nomination ceremony, which took place last night (December 1st).
Eminem received nods in the ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Record of the Year’ and ‘Song of the Year’ categories, among others. The 38-year-old even received two nominations in the ‘Best Rap Song’ category, for his summer hit ‘Not Afraid’ and his collaboration with Rihanna ‘Love The Way You Lie’.
Other leading lights in the ceremony included Bruno Mars with seven nods, while Lady Gaga, Jay-Z and country group Lady Antebellum all gained six nominations.
It was also a relatively good night for British acts. Florence and the Machine and Mumford and Sons both picked up their first ever nominations at the awards, being placed in the ‘Best New Artist’ category alongside Drake and Justin Bieber. Welsh rockers Muse also earned two nominations, including ‘Best Rock Song’.
The awards will take place in Los Angeles on 13th February next year.
