Swedish singer Lykke Li has offered her new album, ‘Wounded Rhymes’ for fans to listen to a whole week before it is officially released. The follow up to 2008’s ‘Youth Novels’ will be available for purchase on March 1st via the singer’s own label LL Recordings.
The album is once again a chance for the ‘Dance, Dance, Dance’ singer to showcase her unique abilities, masking tones of melancholy under beautiful harmonies and truly special vocal refrains. The album is packed full of dark, atmospheric shades and snaking underworld beats that are hard to leave alone after just one listen.
Speaking to Clash Music this week the singer spoke about the difficulties in recording ‘Wounded Rhymes’, stating that the hardest part was embracing her own sadness and anger to access the emotions needed for the record. She said: "What was hard was the life that influenced it. What was easy was writing it. I had so much in me, I was itching to write. So much anger and sadness. The first album I did, looking back, I was inexperienced. I felt misunderstood. I don’t feel like I did a great job. This time round I had so much in me, I was writing like a maniac."
