The Script Say Jarvis Cocker Remarks Were “Taken Out Of Context”

Irish songwriter and frontman of The Script Danny O’Donoghue has commented on remarks he supposedly made recently about Jarvis Cocker.


Earlier this week the Daily Record printed an interview with the singer, where he supposedly said: "I am not a big Pulp fan. Jarvis Cocky. I'm not into him at all. I don't like his style. I don't like his music. I won't be steering clear of him, but he should be steering clear of me.

"I have watched his career. I'd like to think Pulp are coming out with a new album or that he wants to really do a job in the music industry, but I am sure they will release a single, do a tour, make their money and go home. The audacity of Jarvis Cocker to think he is important enough for people to give a damn what he thinks."

However, not normally known as one to court controversy, O’Donoghue said yesterday that the remarks were taken out of context. Speaking on the band’s official Twitter page, he said: "Recent frenzy of press about Jarvis. All taken completely out of context. I've got nothing against him. Danny."

Meanwhile, the band have announced that BBC Sound of 2011 nominee Claire Maguire will be joining them on their upcoming tour. The singer will be supporting The Script throughout their extensive arena tour in March.
