The Candle Thieves Unveil Video For New Single ‘Breathing (Just For You)’ - Watch Now

Friday, 11 March 2011 Written by Dave Ball

Quirky Peterborough duo Scott McEwen and ‘The Glock’ have released the video for the 3rd and final single to be released from last years debut album ‘Sunshines & Other Misfortunes’.

‘Breathing (Just For You)’ is another slice of summery sounding pop music with dark lyrics and a further example of the influence of artists such as Eels and Sufjan Stevens in the pairs music. ‘Sunshine & Other Misfortunes’ was released in April 2010 and the pair have been busy touring ever since. Alongside high profile support slots for the likes of Scissor Sisters and David Gray in the US, The Candle Thieves spent the latter part of 2010 travelling the UK supporting Badly Drawn Boy and The Boy Least Likely To.

Although their previous gigs have been played out to relatively small crowds, audiences have been enthralled by their smart and personal lyrics matched against optimistic sounding instrumentation which includes Casio keyboards and glockenspiels. Live performances also feature stuffed animals, sparklers and party poppers, however, this isn’t a gimmick band. Check out any of the mobile recordings on YouTube of ‘Stars’ and you will hear a simple tenderness that shows the potential these two have.

‘Breathing (Just For You)’ was directed by Richard Cullen and Pixelfing and is being released through Carnival Town Records on March 21st. The Candle Thieves will also be on tour again soon at the following venues:

March 22nd – Enterprise, London
March 25th – Mojo, Peterborough
April 7th - Mama Liz’s, Stamford
