Rihanna, Justin Beiber and Bon Jovi are set to appear on a charity album to raise relief funds for Japan. The compilation album will be released by Universal Music Group, featuring a number of the top stars on their musical roster. Also rumoured to be appearing on the release are U2 and Lady Gaga.
It is unclear at present if the tracks will all be previously released material or if it will feature any newly recorded songs.
The album will be released in order to raise money for the numerous relief efforts which are taking place across the country at present, with all proceeds from the album being donated to the Japanese Red Cross.
Speaking about the project, a spokesperson from the record company said: "We are doing it only digitally because it is faster, and this will be a worldwide release. The plan is to have it available later this week.”
Musicians have been quick to use their social influence to raise money to aid relief after the natural disaster occurred earlier this month. Lady Gaga, Linkin Park and Blink-182 have all announced special fundraising performances, while the likes of Katy Perry and Coldplay were all quick to show their support, encouraging fans to donate to relief organisations.NOTE FROM THE EDITOR We don't run any advertising!
