The Music Announce Farewell UK Shows & Tickets

Originally formed in 1999, The Music are one of the most enduring bands on the indie scene. Influenced by the Madchester groups of the late eighties and early nineties, with a definite leaning towards the Oasis breed of loud, sleazy rock'n'roll.

In January 2010, the band began demoing material for their fourth studio album. The album was due for release sometime 2011, however, according to the release notes for 'Singles and EPs: 2001 – 2005' the band split up in September 2010.

Frontman Robert Harvey has since gone on to work with The Streets, collaborating on the album 'Computers and Blues'. Mike Skinner of The Streets and Harvey also released a Christmas song in December 2010, called 'Scrooge And Marley - I Don't Want It To Be Me'.

Today The Music announce a series of farewell gigs that will see the band play three shows in Japan before playing the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire followed by a final hometown gig at the o2 Academy in Leeds.

The Music will play the following UK shows:

O2 Shepherds Bush Empire, London - 4th August 2011
O2 Academy, Leeds - 5th August 2011
