The Darkness Reveal Dates For Download Festival Warm-Up Shows & Tickets

The Darkness, with the original line-up of Justin Hawkins, Dan Hawkins, Ed Graham and Frankie Poullain, have announced three Download Festival warm-up shows next month in Norwich, Leamington Spa and London.
Reuniting after a five year gap, the multi-award winning Brit-rockers will be performing at Download Festival as special guests to Def Leppard on the opening night of the festival. Famed for their incredible live shows and whose hits include 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love', 'Growing On Me' and 'One Way Ticket', The Darkness' Download show will mark the band’s first festival appearance since splitting up in 2006.
“The idea of playing Download terrifies us,” frontman Justin Hawkins said. “We played in an early slot on the main stage in 2003 and we were frightened then. It's reassuring to know that nothing has changed”
“On a serious note it's the most rockest of festivals and the perfect place for us to begin the next phase of our journey,” he continued.
The band released thier debut album 'Permission To Land' in 2003 hitting the UK's Album Chart Number One spot as well as winning 'Best British Album', 'Best British Group' and 'British Rock Act' at the 2004 BRIT Awards. Leading up to their split in 2006, The Darkness were honoured with a string of awards including an Ivor Novello, four Kerrang! Awards, two Metal Hammer Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award and even an Elle Style Award for being the ‘Most Stylish Band’!
The Darkness have announced the following UK shows:
Sun June 5th 2011 - Norwich, Waterfront
Mon June 6th 2011 - Leamington Spa, The Assembly
Wed June 8th 2011 - London, O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire
Tickets for the Leamington Spa and London shows are being made exclusively available to Download festival ticket holders only, remaining tickets will go onsale to the general public on Wednesday May 18th.
