The trend of bands revisting their glory days shows no signs of fading with dance punks Primal Scream announcing further shows which will see the band play their 1991 seminal album ‘Screamadelica’ in its entirety.
Primal Scream could be said as being latecomers to the Acid House party. Their scruffy mixture of punk ethics and 60s pop gained themselves a huge ‘alternative’ audience. However the band always chafed at their ‘indie’ label they were given.
Helmed by Andrew Wetherall’s remix, the producer turned ‘Im Losing More Than I’ll Ever Have’ into the iconic track ‘Loaded’ thus demonstrating how Primal Scream’s music fitted easily into dance culture. With the addition of their love of loud guitars and vintage psychedelia, Primal Scream started to adventure into emerging dance trends and discovered an rebellious band spirit.
With recording sessions becoming one long party, the resulting album ‘Screamadelica’ merged psych, punk, country, house, techno, dub all into one record. The album remains a hugely inspirational classic and one of the finest releases of the 1990s.
Following on from their two sold out, acclaimed dates at London’s Olympia at the end of November last year, aw well as a string of dates in March of this year, Primal Scream have announced two additional shows which will see them play their seminal 1991 album ‘Screamadelica’ in itsentirety.
