‘Pearl Jam 20’, a book that does exactly as it’s title suggests by documenting the past 20 years of the Seattle grunge rockers has been confirmed as having a release date of September 13th. A documentary film with the same title, directed by Cameron Crowe (who was also responsible for ‘Almost Famous’) will be released at the same time.
The book will include personal drawings, notes and behind the scenes information from the entire length of Pearl Jam’s career and has been compiled and edited by authors Jonathan Cohen and Mark Wilkinson. It has been described as an “aesthetically stunning, definitive chronicle of the band's past two decades”.
As well as directing the film, Crowe has written the foreword for the book and compiled a soundtrack collection to go with the film. Other contributors to the book include rock royalty such as Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and Dave Grohl.
In other Pearl Jam related news Eddie Vedder released his ‘Ukulele Songs’ solo album this week. The album contains songs Vedder says he wrote over a decade ago but never did anything with alongside one Pearl Jam cover (‘Can’t Keep’) and a few covers including his take on ‘Dream A Little Dream’.
For as taste of the solo album check out album opener ‘Can’t Keep’ below.
