Coldplay have confirmed that they will be performing a free show as part of this year’s iTunes Festival in London. The band are set to perform and the Camden Roundhouse on July 22nd. Tickets for the event are free, and can be won at random by applying on the official festival website.
Speaking about the event, Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman said: "The iTunes Festival always has a brilliant cross-section of artists but this year might just be the best ever. We're very proud to be part of such an impressive lineup."
The band recently released the lead single from their upcoming album, ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’, which received a mixed review from Stereoboard’s Jonny Rimmer.
Coldplay premiered four new songs at Germany’s Rock Am Ring Festival, a performance which prompted the band’s roadie to describe response to the new material as “rapturous”.
Speaking on the band’s official blog, the band’s assistant said: “...it was a bona fide blinder. I'm also not sure if the new stuff has made it around the internet after the first show, or whether folks were genuinely greeting it rapturously on very first listen. Whatever is going on here though, feels pretty good to me."
Coldplay are set to headline this year’s Glastonbury festival alongside U2 and resident R&B queen Beyonce.
Coldplay UK & Ireland Tour Dates are as follows:
Sat July 9th 2011 - Passeio Maritimo de Alges, Lisbon
