Example: ‘I Won’t Stop Until I Headline Wembley’

Tuesday, 14 June 2011 Written by James Conlon

Fast becoming known as one of British music’s most vocal contributors, Example has stated that he won’t stop writing and performing until he earns a headline slot at Wembley Stadium. The rapper and singer, who is currently Number One in the UK singles chart with ‘Changed The Way You Kiss Me’, has claimed that ambition won’t limit him with his career progression.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, Example said: "The ultimate goal for me is now to carry on releasing albums and touring until I get to Wembley Stadium. Two, three years ago I wouldn't be able to say that. I was ambitious but didn't know where I was going.”

He continued: “Now, I know what my sound is. Now, I have got my game plan, I know what my sound is and got my market.

Example went on to claim that his latest record ‘Playing In The Shadows’ has a lot of unlikely influences. Referring to bands such as Nirvana, the rapper stated that the LP contains "dubstep, trance album with grunge leanings and inspiration. Me trying to mimic my favourite grunge bands from a rap and dance background and putting a twist on it."

He continued: "There's a lot of stuff in the charts at the moment - the Guetta sounding stuff with Pitbull and Flo Rida and LMFAO. It's great pop music but doesn't seem to have much heart and soul and emotion. I'm trying to do the flip side of the dance world."

"I think what I do is credible. I'm only telling my own stories, I write and sing and rap everything myself, so straight away it's integrity."
