Saturday, 25 June 2011 Written by Rob Sleigh

Solo artist John Grant and Texan folk-rockers Midlake are to perform Grant’s debut album ‘Queen of Denmark’ together at London’s Royal Festival Hall on Wednesday 7th September. ‘Queen of Denmark’, on which John Grant collaborated with Midlake, was released in April last year through Bella Union records and went on to earn a number of praising reviews as well as being named Mojo Magazine’s Album of the Year. John Grant is currently on tour in the UK – see below for all dates and tickets.

John Grant founded the alternative rock band The Czars in Denver, Colorado in 1994 with bassist Chris Pearson. They recorded six albums before their split in 2004, shortly after the release of their final album, the appropriately-titled ‘Goodbye’. John wouldn’t return to making music until 2008, when he began recording his first solo album at Midlake’s recording studio in Denton, Texas.

Midlake, who are also signed to Bella Union, released their debut album ‘Bamnan and Slivercork’ in 2004. Last year, they released their third album ‘The Courage of Others’, which reached Number 18 in the UK Albums Chart.
