Starsailor frontman James Walsh has announced a new solo album.
Entirely written, produced and performed by Walsh at his home studio, 'It's All Happening' will arrive on January 30, following up his 2024 'Renewal' EP and two 2023 releases, 'Coming Good' and an album he recorded with Greg Hatwell titled 'Indie Songwriter'. He said:
"This is one of the most thoughtful, lyrical albums I’ve ever made. When I listen back to some of the old Starsailor songs I’m really proud of them because they resonated with a lot of people. But at that age you’re the centre of your own world. You become much more aware of the things you say and how they affect other people. And when you do become more settled, life's ups and downs are completely different to what they were. You start to look outward for inspiring stories of other people's lives to inform your lyrics as well."
The record will include Walsh's current single, I Can't Keep Myself From Loving You, a reflective acoustic ballad, as well as his previously released tracks, Coney Island, Pooles Cavern, Shadows, and Moving Target, the latter of which is streaming exclusively on Bandcamp.
"I think most people, unless they’re supremely confident, always have that doubt of, ‘Is this really happening?’," he added. "That’s a place that’s in my past, but it’s very easy to recall."
Walsh has a number of shows in the diary over the coming months, including an appearance at Portsmouth's Victorious Festival in August.
Starsailor released their sixth studio album, 'Where The Wild Things Grow', last year. The band will play a series of European shows in the spring, followed by festival appearances including Isle Of Wight and Tramlines. In the autumn, they'll mark the 25th anniversary of their debut album, 'Love Is Here', with a run of special UK shows featuring a string section.
