Beyonce has commented on her headline performance at Glastonbury festival last night (June 16th), calling the evening the highlight of her career. The singer stormed her way through a set of hit singles, also wowing the Worthy Farm crowd with several Destiny’s Child tracks and covers of tracks by Kings Of Leon, Alanis Morissette and Prince.
Talking to the BBC after the set, which was televised in its entirety, Beyonce said: "This night was a dream. I felt like a rock star, and the crowd, they looked like rock stars, and I'm just so honoured, really. This is... the highlight of my career."
She continued, claiming that had it not been for her husband Jay-Z’s headline set in 2008 she would never have been able to occupy the Pyramid Stage herself. Beyonce said: "I was able to see my husband perform here a couple of years ago and it was one of the most exciting nights for me. I don't know if I would have been asked to come if he didn't do the performance.
She went on: "I'm so happy because, you know, I don't normally do festivals and 175,000 people and... I was very nervous. Everyone gave me so much love and I will never, ever, ever forget this night."
Beyonce also hinted at the involvement of Chris Martin in her festival slot, claiming that the Coldplay frontman checked her setlist before the event. She said: "I sent Chris my setlist and made sure he approved it, because of course he's the master of this."
