Veggie-Mad Morrissey Searches Fans For Meat

Hundreds of fans were searched upon entry to Morrissey’s gig in Middlesbrough Town Hall last night Friday – not for drugs or weapons, but for MEAT products.

The notoriously vegetarian star apparently demanded that fans have their bags searched in case there was any trace of meat. It is the first time Morrissey has gone to that extent, although he does regularly demand that the venue contains no meat based products before he arrives.

Concert-goer Mel Stokes told a source "As you went into the venue you were funnelled through to the top of some steps where they were carrying out searches."

"A member of the security staff then went through my bag and told me that they were checking to make sure that I was not carrying any meat products inside."

The stubborn veggie has also recently commanded that Belgian festival Lokerse Feesten prohibit meat on the day that he performs. The star’s outlandish demands must drive promoters and organisers crazy – and like Homer J. Simpson once said – “You don’t make friends with salad!”
