Blink 182 Unveil ‘Up All Night’ – Listen Now

Friday, 15 July 2011 Written by James Conlon

Blink-182 have unveiled their new single ‘Up All Night’. You can listen to the lead single from their upcoming album (which was debuted online hours ago) at the bottom of this article.

The track is a dark turn from the early pop-punk which earned the Californian three-piece their name as a charting act. ‘Up All Night’ features dark lyrics backed by heavy basslines, more reminiscent of their darker fourth album 'Take Off Your Pants And Jacket' than their other work.

Tom Delonge’s lead vocals remain true to form, keeping in pace with the band’s back catalogue. However, some fans may be surprised by the left turn the song takes in its closing stages.

Speaking about the new LP, drummer Travis Barker was keen to stress that it will not be the biggest departure from the band’s previous records.

Speaking to Gigwise earlier this year, he said: “The sound of the record I think will be kind of the same stuff as past Blink albums, so it won’t be anything that people will be shocked by what we’re writing in the studio at the moment. If I was to disconnect myself from it and kind of take myself out of it and be a fan it feels like songs that have progressed from the last album.”
