Leona Lewis has denied recent claims that her upcoming single ‘Collide’ has been plagiarised from a club track by Ministry of Sound producer Avicii. The ‘X Factor’ star has stated that the DJ, real name Tim Berg, was aware of her version of the track before it was premiered last Friday (15th July).
Speaking about the claims on her Twitter account, Lewis said: "With regards to my song, avicii was aware & agreeing publishing splits for himself and his manager. When avicii sent his track out to have a song written over it I totally fell in love with this version and i think he's super talented."
Talking on his own account, Berg responded to the ‘Bleeding Love’ star, saying: "Thanks for accusing me of lying and speaking on my behalf. Since we never met or even spoke, please let me and my manager know who told you that and what confirmation they gave you."
Syco, the label to which Lewis is signed, have claimed that Berg is officially credited as a songwriter on the track. However, the Ministry Of Sound producer claims that he never gave consent for his material to be used in the London-born singer's single.
Berg has claimed that his track ‘Penguin’ was used by Leona Lewis without his consent. You can see to what extent Lewis’ upcoming single borrows material from ‘Penguin’ by listening to the two songs below.
