London-based soul singer Adele is hoping to make it to 18 weeks at the top of the album charts this Sunday, after her remarkable seven nominations in this year’s MTV Video Awards.
‘21’ is enjoying shed-loads of success, having remained at #1 for 17 weeks so far, only moving to #1 for a single week since its release in January earlier this year. The album has reached an incredible x10 platinum status and could see her win a Barclaycard Mercury Prize, as well as numerous MTV awards.
The ‘Chasing Pavements’ singer is nominated for Video of the Year, Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Direction AND Best Editing, all with single ‘Rolling in the Deep’. She will also find out if she’s won the Mercury Prize for Album of the Year in September.
And to cap it off, the singer’s scheduled September tour is looking close to sold out – tickets are running low, and with the amount of award nominations and sales she’s had it’s no surprise.
