London Businessman Branded "Dickhead" After Purchasing Winehouse Foundation Domain Name

A London businessman is at the centre of a row with Amy Winehouse’s father Mitch after he purchased the domain name ‘www.amywinehousefoundation.com’ just hours after the deceased singer’s dad revealed his plans to start the establishment.

Tycoon Martin McCann moved swiftly to buy the rights to the URL, knowing that there would be demand for the name after reading that Mitch Winehouse would be starting the foundation. But, after attacks from the star’s father, he still refuses to sell the domain and claimed he had done nothing wrong, even though many see the move as a blatant exploitation of the much-loved singer’s death.

“I'm not exploiting anything yet,” said McCann. “I've just bought some domain names. Anybody could have. It only takes the click of a mouse. I'm not ashamed or embarrassed. Detach yourself from emotions and think business.

“He is making every effort to hijack this charity to satiate his own needs for the charity. She's not the only Amy Winehouse in the world.”

Understandably, Mitch is absolutely livid at the move and called the businessman a ‘dickhead’ through his Twitter account, as well as urging fans to “bombard the tabloids to put pressure” on the McCann.

Unfortunately, Mitch was forced to hand some donations to the foundation back already after he had initial problems setting it up – and now this low move will cause further delay. I know that if I was Mr McCann, I wouldn’t be able to look at myself in the mirror – but what do you think? Let us know in the comment section below.
