Aerosmith have confirmed that their earlier material will finally be added to iTunes this year, giving fans the opportunity to access their entire back catalogue digitally.
With their post 1987 work already available the New York Post has reported that Columbia Records and Apple have finally struck a deal for iTunes to distribute their classic earlier material from 1973-1987 as of Monday September 5th.
It's expected the launch of their earlier material will net millions for a band who have regularly found ways to bring themselves back to relevance including a huge surge in sales on release of their own Guitar Hero game. Singer Steven Tyler's controversial stint as an American Idol judge may have rubbed some fans (and band members) up the wrong way but it's estimated their album sales rose by a remarkable 260% in the weeks he was on the show.
This move sees Aerosmith follow in the footsteps of The Beatles who also recently allowed their material to be sold on iTunes after lengthy negotiations although fellow rock heavyweights AC/DC and Def Leppard are still holding out.
For generations who haven't experienced the likes of 'Toys In The Attic' or 'Rocks' this is a great opportunity to discover the rawer sound Aersosmith first launched themselves onto the rock scene with.
