'Body & Soul' to Debut on MTV This Wednesday

After VEVO posted a video of Amy Winehouse and Tony Bennett rehearsing their track ‘Body & Soul’ last week, MTV will this week premiere the full song and video to celebrate what would have been the late singer’s 28th birthday.

‘Body & Soul’ became the final recording Amy ever made before her passing on July 23rd of this year, and was recorded by Winehouse and Bennett on March 23 at Abbey Road Studios in London. And, before its release on Duets II, a compilation of duets made by Bennett, the track will be played at 11am on all MTV network channels including MTV, VH1, MTV Hits and MTV U, followed by hourly plays. The track will also be released as a track with a donation of the proceeds going to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which was set up by Winehouse’s father following her death.

“We had a beautiful time recording together in the studio and I knew that Amy was very happy with how she performed that day,” said Bennett. “I thought she was absolutely brilliant and this recording truly captures the essence of her unique artistry. She was a rare talent.”

Duets II will see a release on September 20th, and along with ‘Body & Soul’, the album features collaborations with Lady Gaga, Michael Bublé, Aretha Franklin and Sheryl Crow among others.
