French Hip-Hop and Electro Producer DJ Mehdi Dies After Roof Collapse

French hip-hop and electro producer DJ Mehdi tragically died today after an accident at his house.

The 34 year-old was, according to Wikipedia, holding a party for Riton, his musical partner in his ‘Carte Blanche’ project. As the celebrations continued, Mehdi and some of his friends decided to take to the roof of house, until the roof floor gave away and fell, killing Mehdi and seriously injuring others. Riton was apparently the only man not to fall.

Tributes and messages poured through Twitter this afternoon as news broke of the star’s death, which was announced by friend and fellow DJ Cut Killer, who wrote this his Twitter: “DJ Mehdi !!! There are no words to tell you the sorrow which I feel.. A friend goes from there… Rest in peace fréro”

Many of his other friends took to the net to send messages of love to their lost mate, including Canadian duo Chromeo who wrote “We lost our brother. No words.” Even rapper Drake chipped in with a message, saying “Damn... RIP MEHDI.”
