Primal Scream to Release New Album Next Year

Glaswegian rockers Primal Scream have confirmed that they’re working on a new album, and that it’s set for a 2012 release.

The currently untitled LP is set to be their tenth album release since their 1982 beginning, and their first since 2008’s ‘Beautiful Future’. Frontman and vocalist Bobby Gillespie spoke about the band’s new album with NME.

“We’ve recorded some new music, quite a lot of new music actually and written a lot of new music. But we’ve been touring this Screamadelica show for such a long time. We’ll continue working on [the new material] until the end of October and the winter. Hopefully we’ll have a new Primal Scream album out next year.”

The band have been working hard this year touring and writing, as well as hitting up festivals including last weekend’s Bestival. Their revived Screamadelica tour was in huge demand this year and last, and it’s ongoing success could be what fuelled the band’s decision to begin work on their new album.

Primal Scream UK & Ireland Tour Dates are as follows:

Sat December 31st 2011 - Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh
