Battant's Joel Dever Dies At Age 25

25 year-old musician Joel Dever, one third of London-based garage-trio Battant, has died, it has been revealed.

The electronic three-piece had released their first album back in 2009 and were set to put out their second sometime in the near future, but have now been setback by the tragic death of their friend and fellow musician at the young age of 25. No details of Dever’s death have surfaced yet, but a touching message has been left by Kill the DJ, a label friend, on Battant’s tumblr page.

“It is with great sadness that we have been told today of the death of Joel Dever at 25. He was a talented musician, at the core of BATTANT, whose new LP was to come out in a few weeks.

“We are destroyed that such a young, talented, funny, soul could rip himself away at such a young age,” the statement reads. “He was the core of our existence and touched everyone around him.”

“He leaves behind Chloe Raunet, a sister at heart and work, a family, many friends, and a creative home, Kill the DJ. His green baggy tracksuits will be sorely missed but his smile will stay in our hearts forever.”
