Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger has claimed that he wasn’t surprised by the riots that took place earlier this year – and is more surprised at the fact people were shocked they happened.
Jagger, who is currently working with new supergroup SuperHeavy, also stated that rioting was part of British culture and is a spontaneous phenomenon that occurs “every ten years.”
“I was in London for the riots. I was kind of surprised that people were shocked it happened,” Jagger said. “There's no warning, but it's a regular feature of English urban life if you think about it. Every ten years you get some riots.
“Riots like that have been a feature of Britain for 200 years or so and we like to congratulate ourselves that it has gone away. But the reality is that they haven't have they?”
He also went on to talk about the ongoing rumours of a 50th anniversary Rolling Stones tour.
“There may be a tour, who knows, maybe. Nothing is fixed at the moment.”
