N-Dubz singer Dappy has earned his first Number One in the UK singles chart with his debut release ‘No Regrets’. The controversy-prone star manages to displace ‘X Factor’ teens One Direction from the top spot, knocking their summer anthem ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ down to Number Three.
The 24-year old (who has earned seven Number Ones with R&B tro N-Dubz) also kept Maroon 5 at bay, leaving their collaboration with Christina Aguilera ‘Moves Like Jagger’ in the Number Two position.
New entries in the top ten include Jason Derulo’s ‘It Girl’ at Number Four and James Morrison’s ‘I Won’t Let You Go’ which earns the Number Five position.
Anyone in doubt about the ‘X Factor’ buyng power need not worry, as Damien Rice’s ‘Cannonball’ reaches the Number Nine spot a full decade after it was first released. The song has seen a surprise sales surge after being covered by John Adams in last week’s edition of the televised singing show.
Meanwhile, in the album charts Kasabian soar to the Number One spot with their fourth LP ‘Velociraptor!’. The Leicester five-piece topped the chart by forcing Ed Sheeran’s ‘+’ into the Number Two spot. The acoustic songsmith sits one place above Adele, who is somehow STILL at Number Three with her sophomore release ‘21’.
