Norwegian folk-pop artist Ane Brun has revealed details of her fifth album ‘It All Starts With One’, which is due for release on 24th October. It follows Ane’s recent single ‘Do You Remember?’, released earlier this year, which was the first to be taken from the album – watch the video below. Ane Brun will be touring the UK in November – see below for dates and tickets.
‘It All Starts With One’ features collaborations with Swedish acts First Aid Kit, Jose Gonzalez and Björn Yttling of Peter, Björn and John. Speaking about her new album, Ane said: “I've moved into new territories because it's been three years since my last album and lots of music has passed through me since then. I've tried new directions on stage and singing with other artists. I've been inspired to break my musical boundaries. I've wanted to take risks to get to new places.”
Going on to talk about some of the lyrical themes explored on the album, she adds: “I am an optimistic person, but some of my music is written about rather pessimistic moments. I always tend to put in an element of hope in my darkness though. It doesn't feel like I reveal myself that much, because many of the lyrics are about seconds or minutes of my life and only I know the whole picture. I don't feel I'm leaving my diary out for everyone to see.”
Ane Brun has recently been on tour with Ani Difranco and Peter Gabriel, who has collaborated with Ane on his forthcoming album ‘New Blood’. The following video for ‘Do You Remember?’ is the first chapter of four films that accompany the music to ‘It All Starts With One’.
