'My Broken Foot Has Given Me a New Respect for People Who Don't Have Legs', says Jessie J

Following Jessie J’s recent foot break, which caused her to pull-out of Katy Perry’s US tour, the singer has claimed that she has new-found respect for those who’ve lost their legs. Yes, she really said that.

The rising star, who is now back to full health following her stint in a “smurf shoe”, spoke to Q about how being unable to perform or walk properly for two months has given her a different view on those who suffer everyday of their lives following the loss of their limbs through amputation or accident.

“I'm back in the swing, getting my cast off after nine weeks of this awful Smurf shoe,” said Jessie. “But it's put everything in perspective. I have a different respect now for people who don't have legs.”

She then went on to talk about her disgust at people who think celebrities get different hospitality and treatment compared to those who aren’t famous.

“You give so much as an artist, you give, you give, you give. I'll break my foot and I've got fans going, 'I've got a tummy ache, can I get a re-tweet.' People think you go to a special hospital, get special casts and treatment. It's a lie - I'm the same as anyone else. And that was a moment when I had a proper good cry.”

Now, I don’t know about you, but in my honest opinion, a foot-break isn’t too comparable to the total loss of a leg – and I’m sure any amputee would agree. But what do you think about Jessie’s comments? Tell us in the comments section below.
