Fleetwood Mac's Bob Brunning Dies Age 68

Fleetwood Mac’s original bassist Bob Brunning has sadly passed away age 68, after suffering a heart attack in his home last week.

The Bournemouth-born bass player played in many bands over his career, including Tramp, Savoy Brown and Five’s Company, but it was Fleetwood Mac, whom Brunning was temporarily part of, which he is most famous for. He contributed to the band’s debut album, playing the bass on their track ‘Long Grey Mare’.

Outside of bands, Brunning took up a career in teaching, which lasted for 30 years of his life – he retired in 1999 as headmaster of a primary school in Pimlico. He also wrote many books, including some about Fleetwood Mac and a book about the British blues scene.

Hundreds of messages have been posted online on places like Twitter mourning his death and wishing his family well, as well as many newspapers and websites posting obituaries.
