Eccentric pop icon Lady Gaga has revealed that she’ll be launching the ‘Born This Way Foundation’ in 2012.
Following the huge success of Gaga’s second album ‘Born This Way’, she’s decided to create the new foundation with her mother as a new place for her ‘Monsters’, or fans, to seek inspiration and acceptance. While the website is up now, where fans can register, the foundation is aiming to be up and running by next year.
“My mother and I have initiated a passion project,” Gaga explained. “We call it the Born This Way Foundation. Together we hope to establish a standard of bravery and kindness, as well as a community worldwide that protects and nurtures others in the face of bullying and abandonment.”
The website went live yesterday and has 53,000 Facebook likes, with a lot of fans already pledging their name to it. The splash page greets you with the words “This way, towards bravery, where youth are empowered. This way, towards acceptance, where humanity is embraced. This way, towards love, where individuality is encouraged. Join us, this way. Launching in 2012.”
It’s thought that the project will help fight bullying and will tie in with many other projects, such as the John D & Catherine T MacArthur Foundation among others.
You can catch Gaga alongside stars like Michael Buble, Gary Barlow and Coldplay in Manchester, this November 17th for a special Children in Need Rocks Manchester concert. Gaga will also be appearing on the UK X-Factor on Sunday November 13th and her 2012 Born This Way Ball tour is set to be announced shortly.
