Noel Gallagher: 'I Blame Liam For Oasis Not Becoming Big In America'

Mancunian musical mastermind Noel Gallagher has continued his (very, very) long dispute with brother and ex-bandmate Liam, this time blaming him for Oasis’ failure to break America.

Noel may be enjoying great success with his new band the High Flying Birds, but Oasis didn’t receive the same attention when they tried to crack the states back in the 90s. According to Noel, Liam pulled out of the band’s first night on one of their first US tours – because he had to help Patsy Kensit (his wife at the time) a house.

“As I'm getting on the plane he's getting off because his wife called, saying: 'We need to buy a house,’” Noel explained. “What they were doing for the previous three months is anybody's guess. Probably picking gnats out of each other's hair like monkeys.

“The first gig was a 16,000-seat arena, and the singer's not turned up. That killed us stone dead in America. This is rock 'n' roll. Would Johnny Rotten have gotten a house on the eve of an American tour? Keith Richards? John Lennon? You either want it or you don't, and I blame him for us never becoming as big in America as we were in England.”
